<-- Back to the list of birth stories
At last the laziest baby in the world has arrived!
Patrick Edward was born 2 weeks late on Saturday 21st Sept weighing in at 10lbs 3oz....he really is a chunky monkey.
I went in to be induced on Thurday evening (19th) but nothing really started until Friday 5pm when they broke my waters. I had apparently been having contractions and made it to 2.5cms without had the induction gel, nor any any pains which was amazing. They also put me on the drip thing (can't remember the name) and gave me an epidural too, which was the biggest needle I have ever seen.....
Things moved on slowly during Friday night & I dilated eventually to 8cms by midday on Saturday but that this point the doctor was ocncerned that the baby's head was getting squashed and not moving down enough for me to start pushing (this all made sense when we finally got the see the size of his head!! LOL)
They suggested an emergency c-s rather than risk the baby going into distress with pushing - I was totally cool with this and no one seemed to be panicking so it was obviously not a mega emergency situation.
So Patrick was born about 2pm on Saturday afternoon - the c-s was fine, I definitely felt a lot of tugging but it wasn't exactly painful. I got the shakes big time after the operation but quickly recovered.
So, we have just got home today and it's lovely to breathe fresh air for the first time in a week!!
Patrick has been great, he is very chilled (so far anyway) and has eventually got the hang of breastfeeding after being a bit slow on the uptake in the first few days.
