It was 2 days before my due date and I wondered why I was so restless, no matter what I did I just couldn't get settled, so I spent the whole evening playing darts by myself. The next morning I woke at 2.30am and had the urge to get out of bed. As soon as I did this my waters broke and the contractions started. They were coming at about 3 minutes apart from the very start. I phoned the hospital but they said not to hurry in as it was only my first labour and probably thought I was over-reacting. It is a 30 minute drive from my house to the hospital so we left as soon as I got myself ready.
When we arrived I was examimed and found to be 9cm dilated- ALREADY!! I was taken to the delivery suite, and by the time I got there I was ready to push. I only had time for gas and air, which made me feel really sick. At 4.27am Reece was born,weighing in at 7lb 3oz. He had a true knot in his cord and was very lucky to be alive. I had a third degree tear and was very sore. My wee man was in such a hurry to come out he practically took all my insides with him!!
