Katiewombat had a straightforward natural birth with Damon
I tried to eat about midday, but I couldnt. By 1.30 I decided I really couldnt wait for my consultant appointment at 3.30, must be honest contractions were only 45 secs apart, but it was only when one makes me scream a bit I decided I should ring delivery. Anyway off we went.

Well When did it happen: I gave bitrh to little Damon George (at 39+4) at 3.15pm on 30/11/04 wieghing 7.7lb.

And how did it all happen. The night before I was in hospital with yet another false alarm, got home here at 11pm and just sort of knew I needed my sleep. I had the best nights sleep in 9 months. I woke up at 6.30 and went to the loo, and had a massive show. and then after that everytime I went to the loo I had tons of mucus and pinky loss. There really isnt much to tell over the next few hours, I just sat and knitted,

By the time we parked etc it was gone 2, when I got to the ward. By then I was on all fours contracting almost constantly. As soon as the mw saw the state of me, everyone sprung into action, room prepared, monitors on and 3 midwifes to hand. Yes I was very defineitly in labour. Just over 6 cm dilated, but my waters hadnt broken. So it was decided tobeak my waters- which didnt hurt a bit. Before long I was ready to push, although still not full dilated, but Damons head pushed the remaining cervix away and 3 pushes he was out.

I got a bit upset after the 1st 2 cause his head was out but he wasn't crying, and then when his body came out it took him a couple of minutes to catch his breath and then he was put straight on my chest. It felt so magical and they are treasured memories. I think what made it so great was the fact I didnt ask for pain relief and no one offered, so I got my natural birth and can remember every tiny detail. I am so lucky to have such a positive birth experience an have no doubt I will be back to ttc in the near future.
