Inkpen had a relaxed water birth with a scary ending
DH by this time wasnt at all concerned. He just wanted to sleep (until I said I need a poo and birth is meant to feel the same!! You've never seen anyone get out of bed and into the car fast enough!! ) But he was great throughout

On saturday we had our kitchen floor layed, which went to plan so I spent the rest of the day painting bits of the kitchen sewing some curtains and went and did some gardening, just potting up veg seeds and planting out some that had already grown.

I was woken at 2am on sunday morning with a very odd pain like sensation. I couldnt sleep through it, then realised they were contractions. But they were only down the front of my legs! no where near my bump or back. They were regular every 8 minutes, so I took paracetamol and called the hopsital at 3am. They said wait until I get 4 contractions in a 10min period or the pain was bad. So I had a cup of RLT and a slice of toast. This was when the contractions then suddenly went every 4 minutes. I called the hospital back, they said to come in and I decided to strap on the TENS machine. (I'd only picked it up on friday! and the instructions said to start it at 20 min contractions so I nearly didnt bother with it at all.)

DH by this time wasnt at all concerned. He just wanted to sleep (until I said I need a poo and birth is meant to feel the same!! You've never seen anyone get out of bed and into the car fast enough!! ) But he was great throughout

Arrived at hospital at 6am and I was checked out and at 2cm and I was given a "pretty good sweep" so they said I could stay or go. I said stay as I was quite relaxed and as soon as I got off the bed the contractions came at 3 minutes!! The TENS machine was turned up and so the pacing started, and the stopping with contractions!! We even got free breakfast with all the new mums (who just grinned at me with every contraction. Now I know why! )

We phoned our parents and I was checked out again at 11.30am as I said I wanted a bath and I was at 6cm! All with just a Tens!! The lovely MW said the birth pool was free if I wanted it. Definately!! So I got in. Oh the relief I then started on the gas and air for an hour and gave it back. The final hour was spent with no pain relief! Much to absolutely Everyone's amazement!!

I was very tired and did struggle to push at the end but we got Lui here unaided He was placed stright onto my chest and then went blue and floppy.. He was grabbed away the cord cut very fast and the Paeds called... DH was panicking and very white with terror, I had no real recollection of what was happening, but he wasnt breathing for 2 minutes so had to be resuscitated and given a little oxygen then went lovely pink. At this point they had to get me out the pool, I stood up said I was dizzy so they and DH literally dragged me out and onto the bed, blood EVERYWHERE!!!

I had torn badly internally and so needed a surgeon to come patch me up. Externally everything was perfect!

I was moved into a birth room so the massacre could be cleaned and so I massacred another room and was stiched up.

We finally made it to the post natal ward at 8pm on sunday, and every memeber of staff I saw knew all about everything! All from no pain relief to the "famous pool delivery" (Apparently they only get a few actual pool deliveries a year...)

Lui fed instantly, I didnt sleep that night at all! I requested to home on sunday as i was fine, Lui was fine and feeding well. And here we are I still cant quite believe im a mum, and DH a dad...DH was amazing throughout and even now. I'd definately recommend a water birth to anyone.
